Leslie Katz

Leslie Katz, ViolinLeslie Brown Katz is a tenured member of the Los Angeles Opera and performs regularly at Disney Hall for the Los Angeles Master Chorale. She has served as concertmaster in such musically diverse posts as the Wayne Newton Show in Las Vegas, and with the Norwejian Radio Orchestra in Stavanger, Norway. Leslie also produced and performed the Grammy nominated solo CD, “The Jewish Violin Sings” featuring Jewish treasures from Baroque composer Salamone Rossi to contemporary composers Meir Finkelstein and William Sharlin.

A two time winner of the Music Academy of the West Chamber Music Competition, Leslie Katz was student of Eudice Shapiro (violin,) and Gabor Reito (chamber music,) and participated in the Seattle Youth Symphony organization from age 11 with conductor Vilem Sokol, both in Seattle and at Ft. Flagler, the original site of the SYSO summer music camp now known as Marrowstone.Leslie Katz

A leading Suzuki technique teacher in the Los Angeles area, Leslie Katz received teacher training from John Kendall, Michele George, Susan Kempter and Cathy Lee and now maintains a busy private Suzuki Violin Studio along with her performing and recording career. She loves playing chamber music with her family and friends.
